Nintendo Wii U
Wii U is set to deliver significantly improved graphics over its ageing predecessor, thought to be at least comparable to those offered by Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's the console's unique GamePad controller that's generating the most fuss though, promising a whole new way to interact with your games.
The GamePad features a classic arrangement of buttons, d-pad and dual control sticks, surrounding a 6.2-inch touch-enabled screen. Its living room-friendly design means that you can continue playing a Wii U game on the controller's screen, freeing up the television for your regularly scheduled programmes.
More importantly though, it promises to deliver a range of exciting new gameplay opportunities that - Nintendo hopes - will capture the public's imagination as much as the original Wii's remote-style motion controller did. Wii U also supports up to four original Wii controllers, so you won't have to toss them out just yet.
