Fallout 3 (Bethesda)

Banned by: Japan
Reason for ban: Side quest which allows you to nuke a town

Bethesda's popular RPG Fallout 3 is no more violent or gory than hundreds of other titles on the market, but the original version of the game still fell foul of a ban in Japan - a country that generally does not see fit to ban, well, anything. But Japan's history as the only country in the world to have been hit by nuclear attack, makes the ban far more understandable. Various things had to be edited in the game, including the name of a mini nuke launcher called 'Fat Man' - the same name given to the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. A side quest where there is an option to set off a nuke in the town of Megaton was also removed.
