10 Things we can surmise about GTA V (If we squint a bit!)
Secrets and lies

If there's one thing Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar is good at, it's keeping secrets. If there's another thing Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar is good at, it's making massive open world games like, oh yes, Grand Theft Auto. Combine the furious clamour for even the tiniest morsel of information about the next GTA and Rockstar's well-practised closed-mouthedness and you've got a Grade A recipe for rampant speculation. That's why, when the company releases a brand-new GTA V screen shot, the internet practically hyperventilates with excitement. And with 12 new screens recently released into the wild, we're surprised most of you aren't already dead. But still... what does it all mean?

10 Things we can surmise about GTA V (If we squint a bit!)What Rockstar’s recent screen shot blow-out has taught us about Grand Theft Auto V.Matt Wales MSN Games contributor 2012-08-31T15:49:10trueSecrets and liesIf there's one thing Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar is good at, it's keeping secrets. Riding on a jet planeThe first of Rockstar's surprise screen drops came under the banner of Transport. Three whole screens featuring increasingly exotic ways of making your way around Grand Theft Auto V's sprawling city of LA-inspired Los Santos and surrounding areas! If Los Santos is known for anything, it's excess and what better way to splash the cash than by boarding your own personal military-grade jet plane? This one shouldn't come as much of a surprise to GTA aficionados though - a very similar Hydra fighter jet made the grade in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, set in and around the same area.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Fast cars, faster girlsIt would be a GTA game without a spot of, well, Grand Theft Auto. This sporty little number has a bit of a history in the GTA universe, with Cheetah-manufactured cars appearing in GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories. The Cheetah is about as close as you'll come to driving a Ferrari in Grand Theft Auto and it's a fine ride if you're looking to get about town in a hurry. What it lacks in comparable acceleration, it more than makes up for in speed - although it's going to take some serious driving skills to cut through the Los Santos streets during rush hour.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Pedal PowerIt mightn't be the most glamorous mode of transport out there, but never under estimate the power of the humble pedal bike. It's nippy, light and perfect for a quick getaway. Although the rather atmospheric butt-shot above doesn't give a whole lot away about the bike, we do know that they've played a prominent role in Grand Theft Auto before. Specifically, GTA: San Andreas kicked things off in considerable pedal-powered style with a fraught race through the city streets of Los Santos. Yup, you're starting to spot a theme here, right? Also of note in this picture is a rather dusky looking Pleasure Pier. This recreational wonderland located near Vespucci Beach features its own roller coaster and ferris wheel - the perfect place to unwind after a hard day's crime spree.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

The sky’s the limitHaving whet those recreational appetites, Rockstar's next big screen reveal highlighted several of Los Santos' most popular leisure pursuits. Take parachuting for instance - daredevil outdoor entertainment for the entire family! Another favourite mode of, admittedly rather limited, transportation from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the parachute made its triumphant return high above the towering buildings of Liberty City in GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. The snaking river run seen above is just one of the main stunning natural wonders to be found in the wild countryside surrounding Los Santos. Just watch out for that bridge.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Anyone for tennis?Previous Grand Theft Auto games have bought a whole host of surprising, non-violent extra-curricular activities to the table - ranging from golf in Vice City Stories and the Ballad of Gay Tony to pool in San Andreas and GTA IV. It was even possible to unwind with a spot of stand-up comedy from the likes of a digitised Ricky Gervais and Frankie Boyle in Grand Theft Auto IV. So, all that taken into consideration, an entire tennis mini-game wouldn't come as too much of a surprise in GTA V - especially given all the good sports work Rockstar did on its table tennis title a few years back. Of course, this rather splendid looking court might just be for show - and it's going to be a while before we know for sure.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Down and dirtyIf you're looking for a surer bet in the world of Los Santos leisure, dirt bikes are definitely one to watch. As with many images in Rockstar's recent pictorial deluge, the above shot shows a vehicle that's already a mainstay in the Grand Theft Auto universe. The Sanchez (and occasionally the Manchez) dirt bike has made an appearance in numerous games including GTA: Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto IV. Its reappearance this time around is a bit of a no-brainer then, unless this image is some of cruel double-bluff, courtesy of the Big R.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

A work on the wild sideWhen there's leisure, there's usually work to be despised right around the corner. In Grand Theft Auto, gainful employment doesn't usually mean a 9-to-5 job and a a suit and tie though - and Rockstar's final volley of images show are themed loosely around 'Business'. Of course, this being GTA, you shouldn't be expecting a raucous ride through the world of long lunches and teleconferencing - the series is better known for a business outlook focussed on guns, drugs and ever-so-slightly psychotic crime lords. And it looks like that side of Grand Theft Auto will be back in full force come V.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Police to meet youIf you're going to insist on stirring up trouble then you shouldn't be surprised if local law enforcement starts to get hot and bothered. Insane high-speed police chases are a Grand Theft Auto staple and things don't look to be any different in the next instalment if this action-packed pursuit is anything to go by. That blur of blade-swinging fury looks suspiciously like GTA's perennially popular cop-copter, the VCPD Maverick - ironically, one intended method of deterrent that usually encourages crime in our experience. VCPD Maverick, we look forward to stealing you later. And on the subject of ultra-desirable airborne treats...topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Bi-sexual...the bi-plane, as seen in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and San Andreas - and now presumably back for more. Ain't she a beauty? It's a good job too - with still no news of sign of a release date for GTA V, we could be staring at this picture for a very long time. Ah well...topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2
